Gavilon to Celebrate Completion of Moore, Montana Shuttle Train Facility

Omaha, Neb. (May 7, 2009) – Gavilon Grain, LLC, DBA Peavey Company announced plans to celebrate completion of their new grain elevator with a Grand Opening on Friday, May 15.

Construction began on the new Gavilon Grain, LLC, DBA Peavey Company (Peavey) grain elevator, adjacent to the existing Moore, Montana elevator, in March of 2008 and the project was completed in March 2009.

The first 110-car shuttle was loaded out on April 2 in just over 10 hours, followed by another shuttle on April 13. Each 110-car train carries approximately 410,000 bushels of wheat. Freight rates on 110-car trains are more advantageous than that of the 52-car trains Moore loaded prior to the upgrade. These freight savings equate to more competitive grain prices for Montana farmer producers.

The new facility is a 500,000-bushel slip-form concrete construction, high-speed grain elevator. The elevator was poured in a continuous seven-day pour, utilizing a crew of more than 150 men, 24 hours per day and approximately 3,400 yards of concrete. In addition to the new concrete silos, Peavey added a covered, one million bushel, steel grain storage ring to provide additional space to service producer customers. The project also features an additional truck receiving pit and inbound/outbound scales to provide fast wheat-receiving capabilities, focusing on returning producers to the field quickly during harvest.

The general contractor for the job was The Nay Company from Waxahachie, Texas. There were also 19 sub-contractors, the majority being local, that were essential to project completion.

Peavey will be celebrating their Grand Opening on Friday, May 15, 2009. Grand Opening festivities will include a pig roast, beginning at noon, followed by guest speakers.
